    Landmine Lateral Squats

Side to side squat holding the landmine end. Builds hip mobility and single leg strength in the frontal plane.

    squatmobility

    Why it matters for golf

The lateral squat loads the frontal plane, where the swing loads and unloads the hips. It builds inner thigh and hip strength plus the mobility to shift into each hip, the move behind loading the trail side and posting on the lead side.

    Coaching cues

    • Take a wide stance, both feet pointed forward.
    • Shift into one hip and sit back.
    • Keep the other leg long.
    • Push back to center and switch sides.

    Common faults

    • Heel lifts on the working leg.
    • Knee dives in as you shift.
    • Torso folds forward instead of sitting back.
