Why it matters for golf
The reverse fly builds the rear delts and upper back that keep posture from folding forward. The split stance adds a balance and anti-rotation demand while the arms work, so the trunk trains at the same time.
Coaching cues
- Staggered stance, slight hinge, spine long.
- Sweep wide with a slight elbow bend.
- Squeeze the shoulder blade at the end of the arc.
- Hips stay still while the arms move.
Common faults
- Rotating the torso to swing the weight.
- Elbows bending into a row.
