Why it matters for golf
Sitting into a squat opens the hips and ankles, and straightening the legs from the bottom lengthens the hamstrings. Cycling between the two builds the range for a stable, hinged setup. It covers two of the most common golfer restrictions in one drill.
Coaching cues
- Sink into the squat with the chest up and heels down.
- Straighten the knees slow and keep the fold.
- Exhale as the legs lengthen.
- Pause in each position. No bouncing between them.
Common faults
- Heels lifting in the squat.
- Bouncing between positions.
- Straining the lower back instead of feeling the hamstrings.
