Mobility
Cat Cow
Slow spinal flexion and extension on all fours, restoring the segmental spine motion that golf posture is built on.
mobility
Why it matters for golf
A full turn needs a little flexion, extension, and rotation at every level of the spine. Cat cow moves the whole spine through flexion and extension with almost no load. It is the simplest way to restore the segmental motion that posture and thoracic rotation depend on.
Coaching cues
- Move one segment at a time, slow.
- Inhale into extension, exhale into flexion.
- Let the head follow the spine, not lead it.
- Spend a full breath in each direction.
Common faults
- Hinging at one spot instead of moving the whole spine.
- Rushing the rhythm.
- Holding the breath.
