Shoulder Lift Offs
Hand lift-offs that build active shoulder rotation, turning passive range into control the swing can actually use.
mobility
Why it matters for golf
Lift offs train active range, not just passive stretch. The shoulder has to produce rotation with its own muscles, which is what the swing demands at the top and through the finish. Active control here protects the shoulder as speed and volume climb.
Coaching cues
- Lift the hand away slow. No jerking.
- Keep the rest of the body dead still.
- Exhale as you lift and pause at the top.
- A small honest range beats a big cheated one.
Common faults
- Arching or twisting the trunk to fake the lift.
- Fast reps with no pause.
- Chasing height and losing form.
