Shoulder Distraction
Gentle shoulder distraction that gives the joint space and restores the overhead range a full arm swing needs.
mobility
Why it matters for golf
Distraction gives the shoulder joint room, easing the pinch that limits overhead and cross-body motion. That freedom lets the lead arm reach across the chest at the top and the trail arm rotate without irritation. Healthy shoulder space keeps swing volume from turning into pain.
Coaching cues
- Let the arm hang long and relax into the pull.
- Breathe slow. Tension leaves on the exhale.
- Hold for thirty seconds or more.
- Keep the neck and traps quiet.
Common faults
- Gripping and fighting the distraction.
- Shrugging the shoulder up.
- Cutting the hold short.
