Raised Rear Quad
Rear-foot-elevated quad and hip flexor stretch, opening the front of the hip so the pelvis can extend and rotate.
mobility
Why it matters for golf
Elevating the rear foot deepens the stretch on the quad and hip flexor. Opening that line lets the trail hip extend and the pelvis rotate through impact without dragging the lower back into extension. It is a priority stretch for golfers who sit all day.
Coaching cues
- Tuck the pelvis slightly before you sink in.
- Stay tall. No leaning forward to escape the stretch.
- Ease in on the exhale, back off if anything pinches.
- Hold for several slow breaths per side.
Common faults
- Arching the lower back instead of stretching the hip.
- Sinking too deep too fast.
- Fighting the stretch and holding the breath.
