Open Book
Side-lying thoracic rotation that opens the mid back so the shoulders can turn fully without dragging the hips along.

Why it matters for golf
Open book isolates thoracic rotation with the hips fixed, which is exactly the separation the swing needs. It opens the mid back and the chest at the same time. More range here means a fuller turn with less lower back stress.
Coaching cues
- Keep the knees stacked and still.
- Open the top arm and follow it with your eyes.
- Exhale as you rotate, pause at end range.
- Move slow. Two to three seconds each way.
Common faults
- Knees separating so the hips rotate too.
- Bouncing at end range.
- Letting the arm bend and cutting the stretch short.
