    Neck Tilt

Slow side-to-side neck tilts that free the neck so the shoulders can turn fully under a steady head.

    mobility

    Why it matters for golf

The backswing turns the shoulders under a fairly still head, and that demands neck range. Tilting the neck through easy range keeps the golfer from stealing motion from elsewhere or losing sight of the ball during the turn. It also eases the neck tension that long practice sessions build.

    Coaching cues

    • Tilt the ear toward the shoulder, slow.
    • Keep both shoulders relaxed and down.
    • Exhale as you settle into the stretch.
    • Hold each side for a few calm breaths.

    Common faults

    • Shrugging the shoulder up to meet the ear.
    • Forcing range instead of easing into it.
    • Quick, jerky tilts.
