Med Ball
Med Ball CS Side Step
Lateral step into a rotational med ball throw, training how the weight shift loads and releases speed for the swing.
powerrotation
Why it matters for golf
The swing starts with a lateral shift into the lead side before the body rotates. This drill links a side step with a med ball throw so the golfer learns to turn lateral momentum into rotational speed. It also trains the lead leg to accept and brace against that shift.
Coaching cues
- Step wide onto the lead leg and let the hips lead.
- Plant, then throw. Do not throw mid-step.
- Keep the chest tall through the release.
- Finish balanced on the lead side.
Common faults
- Throwing with the arms before the hips shift.
- Lead knee collapsing inward on the plant.
- Rushing the step so the ground never gets loaded.
