core
Why it matters for golf
Side bend is part of every good downswing, and the obliques control it. Side crunches build lateral trunk strength in a simple, low load way, useful for golfers building tolerance before heavier rotational work.
Coaching cues
- Ribs move toward the hip, short range.
- Slow up, slow down.
- Keep the neck relaxed.
- Work both sides evenly.
Common faults
- Pulling on the head.
- Rolling forward into a regular crunch.
