    Why it matters for golf

Side bend is part of every good downswing, and the obliques control it. Side crunches build lateral trunk strength in a simple, low load way, useful for golfers building tolerance before heavier rotational work.

    Coaching cues

    • Ribs move toward the hip, short range.
    • Slow up, slow down.
    • Keep the neck relaxed.
    • Work both sides evenly.

    Common faults

    • Pulling on the head.
    • Rolling forward into a regular crunch.
