    Back Extensions

Trunk extensions that strengthen the low back, glutes, and hamstrings, the muscles that hold golf posture.

    Why it matters for golf

Golf posture is a sustained hinge, and the muscles that hold it fatigue over a round or a long range session. Back extensions build strength and endurance in the low back and posterior chain so posture survives the whole day.

    Coaching cues

    • Hinge from the hips, not the low back.
    • Squeeze the glutes to come up.
    • Stop at a straight line, do not overextend.
    • Slow and controlled both directions.

    Common faults

    • Hyperextending past neutral at the top.
    • Yanking up with the low back instead of the glutes and hamstrings.
