Why it matters for golf
Squatting well is the base for using the ground. A golfer who can sit into the hips with a stable trunk can load the trail side and push into the lead side without losing posture. It also keeps the knees and hips durable for high practice volume.
Coaching cues
- Feet about shoulder width.
- Sit the hips back and down.
- Keep the chest up and the heels down.
- Push the floor away to stand.
Common faults
- Heels lifting or knees caving in.
- Chest dropping and back rounding at the bottom.
