Seated Box Jump
A box jump starting from a seated position. Trains pure explosive power with no countermovement to help.
power
Why it matters for golf
Starting from a seat kills momentum, so the hips have to produce force from a dead start. That trains rate of force development, the quality behind effortless looking speed. It also makes power work easy to standardize and progress.
Coaching cues
- Sit tall on the box or bench.
- No rocking, explode straight up.
- Swing the arms hard.
- Land soft on the box and stand tall.
Common faults
- Rocking backward to steal momentum.
- Landing in a crouch because the target is too high.
