    Overhead Squat

A squat with the arms held overhead. Exposes and trains mobility and trunk control from shoulders to ankles.

    Why it matters for golf

The overhead squat is an honest test. It demands ankle, hip, thoracic, and shoulder range all at once, and any restriction shows up immediately. For golfers it doubles as a screen and a builder for the mobility a full swing needs.

    Coaching cues

    • Arms locked overhead, slightly behind the ears.
    • Sit down between the heels.
    • Chest tall, arms steady.
    • Only as deep as the position holds.

    Common faults

    • Arms falling forward as depth increases.
    • Heels lifting or knees caving in.
