    Lunge With Rotation

A lunge combined with a trunk rotation over the front leg. Trains rotation on a stable single leg base.

    lungerotation

    Why it matters for golf

Rotating over a lunge teaches the trunk to turn while the lower body holds its ground, which is separation in its simplest form. It also loads the lead hip the way the downswing does.

    Coaching cues

    • Lunge first and settle the base.
    • Rotate the chest over the front leg.
    • Keep the front knee quiet.
    • Come back to center before stepping out.

    Common faults

    • The front knee chasing the rotation.
    • Turning from the low back with a rigid upper back.
