Club Good Morning
A hip hinge performed holding a golf club, grooving the same bend and posture used at address.
hinge
Why it matters for golf
The good morning teaches golfers to hinge from the hips with a flat back, the exact move into address posture. Doing it with a club gives instant feedback on spine position. A strong, well grooved hinge protects the low back over thousands of swings.
Coaching cues
- Push the hips back first.
- Soft knees, flat back.
- Feel the hamstrings load.
- Drive the hips forward to stand tall.
Common faults
- Rounding the low back as you fold.
- Bending the knees into a squat instead of hinging.
