Why it matters for golf
The swing loads one leg at a time, trail side going back and lead side coming down. This builds single leg strength and hip stability on each side, plus a useful stretch through the rear leg hip flexors.
Coaching cues
- Rear foot elevated, weight in the front leg.
- Drop the back knee straight down.
- Keep the front heel heavy.
- Torso tall, hips square.
Common faults
- Pushing off the back foot.
- Front knee diving inside the foot.
- Leaning forward to escape the front leg.
