Why it matters for golf
Carrying load on one side makes the opposite obliques work overtime to keep you upright. That anti-lean trunk control is the same stability the swing leans on at speed. It also builds grip and shoulder stability one side at a time.
Coaching cues
- Stand tall, shoulders level, before stepping.
- Don't lean away from the weight.
- Smooth, even steps.
- Switch sides and match the work.
Common faults
- Leaning toward or away from the dumbbell.
- Shrugging the loaded shoulder.
- Walking fast and sloppy.
