    Dumbbell Oblique Tilt

A weighted side-tilt movement for the obliques, the muscles that control side bend and protect the spine in the swing.

    core

    Why it matters for golf

The obliques manage the side bend and rotation the swing demands from the trunk. Strengthening them through a controlled tilt builds the lateral trunk strength that protects the low back at speed.

    Coaching cues

    • Stand tall, brace before you move.
    • Tilt through the trunk, not the hips.
    • Control the movement in both directions.
    • Keep the range honest, no lurching.

    Common faults

    • Bending forward instead of sideways.
    • Letting the hips sway to fake range.
    • Rushing the return to upright.
<!-- VERIFY against video: assumed a standing dumbbell side bend for the obliques; confirm the actual setup and direction of the tilt. -->
