Dumbbell
Dumbbell Front Raise
A raise to the front that strengthens the shoulders and builds the control to move the arms without the trunk compensating.
push
Why it matters for golf
Shoulders take a beating from swing volume and practice sessions. Front raises build the front delts and teach the arms to move while the trunk stays quiet, the same separation of jobs the swing relies on.
Coaching cues
- Stand tall, soft elbows.
- Raise to about shoulder height.
- Lower slowly, no dropping.
- Keep the trunk quiet, no lean-back.
Common faults
- Swinging the weight up with body momentum.
- Shrugging as the arms rise.
- Going so heavy the range shrinks.
