Why it matters for golf
Single leg strength drives the weight shift and the lead-leg post-up that create speed at impact. The split stance also exposes and trains hip stability side to side, a common gap in golfers.
Coaching cues
- Rear foot elevated, front foot far enough forward to stay balanced.
- Drop the back knee straight down.
- Keep the front heel heavy.
- Stay tall through the trunk.
Common faults
- Front knee caving inward.
- Torso pitching forward or leaning sideways.
- Pushing off the back foot instead of driving through the front leg.
