Barbell Trap Jump
Loaded jump holding a trap bar. Converts deadlift strength into the vertical power golfers use against the ground.
power
Why it matters for golf
The trap jump is a loaded jump, strength turned into speed. Jumping with load trains the legs to put force into the ground fast, a quality that tracks closely with clubhead speed.
Coaching cues
- Set up like a deadlift, flat back.
- Pull, then jump as hard as you can.
- Land soft with the hips back.
- Reset fully between jumps.
Common faults
- Load too heavy, so the jump becomes a fast pull.
- Stiff, loud landings.
- No reset between reps.
