Barbell Split Stance Trap Deadlift
Trap bar deadlift pulled from a split stance. Loads the hinge one side at a time, the way the swing loads the body.
hingebalance
Why it matters for golf
The split stance loads the hinge one side at a time, the way the swing does. It builds single side hip strength and stability while keeping the loading simple, a strong bridge between the deadlift and true single leg work.
Coaching cues
- Set a split stance with most of the weight in the front foot.
- Hinge into the front hip, back flat.
- Push the floor away to stand.
- Match reps on both sides.
Common faults
- Weight drifts back to the rear leg.
- Hips twist open during the pull.
- Turning it into a lunge instead of a hinge.
