    lunge

    Why it matters for golf

Golf loads one leg at a time. The reverse lunge builds single leg strength and hip stability, the qualities that let a player load the trail side and post on the lead side without losing balance.

    Coaching cues

    • Step back far enough for both knees to hit right angles.
    • Keep the front foot flat and quiet.
    • Drop straight down, torso tall.
    • Drive through the front leg to stand.

    Common faults

    • Front knee wobbles in.
    • Short step turns it into a knee dominant bounce.
    • Leaning forward over the front leg.
