    Barbell Power Clean

Full clean from the floor caught in a partial squat. A classic power lift for producing force fast from the ground.

    Why it matters for golf

The power clean is a full body expression of speed and force. It teaches the legs and hips to accelerate a load fast, which carries straight into how hard a golfer can push into the ground in the downswing.

    Coaching cues

    • Push the floor away to break the bar off the ground.
    • Stay patient, then snap the hips past the knees.
    • Pull under and catch on the shoulders.
    • Elbows up fast, stand to finish.

    Common faults

    • Hips shoot up first and the back does the work.
    • Bar loops out away from the body.
    • Slow elbows on the catch.
